Reading List

I love to read. I track my reading here, using my own system instead of relying on third party tools, mostly because I can, and that I retain creative control over how and what I want to track.

I maintain three lists here. The first is for what I am currently reading, the second is for what I am going to read, and last is for what I have already read, hosted on its own page. I make use of different projects to track my current reading list according to thematic collections (e.g. awards, authors, series).

I use the ellipses ``...'' to hide much of the details to keep the initial page clean. They can be clicked to un-hide/hide the details, if JavaScript is enabled; conversely, everything will show up if JavaScript is not enabled.

Currently reading

The list here represents books that I am currently concurrently reading. I will often read the week's installment of The Economist (and/or 2600: The Hacker Quarterly) before the books here.

  1. Bones to Ashes by Kathy Reichs
  2. Planning Algorithms by Steven M. LaValle
  3. Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine (20th Edition) ed. J. Larry Jameson, Anthony S. Fauci, Dennis L. Kasper, Stephen L. Hauser, Dan L. Longo, & Joseph Loscalzo
  4. ESV Study Bible ed. Lane T. Dennis, Wayne Grudem, J. I. Packer, C. John Collins, Thomas R. Schreiner, & Justin Taylor

Note that books here are selected from the ordered queue and ``projects'' of what I am going to read.

Waiting to read

This section lists named items that I am going to read. Primary sources come from the ordered queue with some interspersed choices from the various thematic projects.

Ordered Queue

This is an ordered queue---the smallest number is the one that I am going to read next. Ranking for the top 5 is fairly accurate with few exceptions, but as we go down the list, the ordering is murkier.

Thematic Projects

Thematic projects are reading lists organised around specific themes, like a book series, or awards series, or whatever specific categorisation that ``makes sense''. Items here may supplant the usual order as implied in the ordered queue. Unless otherwise noted, thematic projects usually go into the already read list as a single item with sub-items in them.

The [Almost] 20th Century Pulitzer Project

This list of books that had won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in the years 1910--1999 (i.e. [almost] 20th century) was created to avoid being too biased with my own choices of books. I don't expect to finish this list since many of these books may no longer be available, but I will try my best. Read books will be struck out here and have an entry in my already read list. The lists are long, so you will find lots of ellipses to hide them away...
